Pre-task plan (PTP)

A pre-task plan is the daily quick version of a JHA: before the crew starts, the lead walks the task, names the steps, the hazards, and the controls for today's conditions, and everyone signs on. Many GCs require a PTP every morning; this form is that ritual on one page.

Common questions

What is the difference between a PTP and a JHA?

The JHA is the formal analysis of a task: steps, hazards, and controls, done once and updated when the task changes. The PTP is the daily field version: same thinking, today's conditions, ten minutes at the start of the shift. GCs commonly require both.

Who fills out the pre-task plan?

The crew lead or foreman, with the crew present. The value is the two-minute conversation at the task location, not the paperwork itself; the signatures record that it happened.

The PTP works best on top of a real JHA. Generate a task-specific JHA for $29 and the daily plan writes itself.

Forms record what happened on the job; the JHA, safety plan, or written program is what a GC, prequal portal, or inspector asks to see. Generate a verified, job-specific one in minutes.
