Free TRIR calculator
TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) = recordable cases × 200,000 ÷ total hours worked. The 200,000 represents 100 full-time workers for a year, so your rate reads as "recordable injuries per 100 workers". Enter your OSHA 300A numbers below.

This calculator applies the OSHA 200,000-hour rate formula used in 29 CFR 1904 recordkeeping. It is a planning aid, not legal advice, and it does not replace a competent person’s judgment on site.
Common questions
▸What is a good TRIR in construction?
The construction industry average TRIR hovers around 2.4 to 3.0 depending on the sector. Many GCs and prequal programs flag contractors above 3.0 and favor those below 1.0. A TRIR of 0 with real hours is the strongest score.
▸What is the difference between TRIR and DART?
TRIR counts all OSHA-recordable cases. DART counts only the more severe subset: cases with days away from work, restricted duty, or job transfer. Both use the same per-200,000-hours formula.
▸Where do the numbers come from?
Straight off your OSHA Form 300A annual summary: total recordable cases, DART cases, and total hours worked by all employees for the year.
