Respirator Basics

29 CFR 1910.134 · 29 CFR 1926.1153 · This talk in Spanish

Why it matters

A respirator with a gap is a placebo. Silica, welding fume, spray finishes, and moldy demo all call for respiratory protection, and the difference between protected and exposed comes down to the right cartridge, a real fit, and a clean seal. Beards and N95s do not mix.

  2. Who has been fit tested in the last 12 months?
  3. Are the right cartridges on hand for today’s exposures?
